How do we know what we know about electrons if they are so tiny?
An electron is a subatomic particle that is the negative charge in an atom? The electron is 1000 times smaller than the mass of a proton. But if these electrons are so small how do we know of their existence? We know of these electrons because of a man named J. J. Thomson and his experiments with cathrode ray tubes. He discovered that there were negatively charged particles in an atom. Through three experiments he tried to learn the basic properties of atom. We also know about these things because we have been colliding atoms and we can see from the explosion that there are electrons contained in the atom.
