How do we know what we know about electrons if they are so tiny?

An electron is a subatomic particle that is the negative charge in an atom? The electron is 1000 times smaller than the mass of a proton. But if these electrons are so small how do we know of their existence? We know of these electrons because of a man named J. J. Thomson and his experiments with cathrode ray tubes. He discovered that there were negatively charged particles in an atom.   Through three experiments he tried to learn the basic properties of atom.  We also know about these things because we have been colliding atoms and we can see from the explosion that there are electrons contained in the atom. These are some of the reasons that we know about electrons

How do Dalton and Democritus differ from the way they use the scientific method? First I that that I should tell you a little bit about the back from where they came and the time period that they came from. John Dalton lived in the late 1700's early 1800's he was a physicists, meteorologist, and English chemist. Dalton was also one of the key contributors for the creation of the current day model of the atom. Now a little bit about Democritus. Democritus he was alive in about 460 BC, he was also ancient Greek philosopher and he formulated one of the atomic theories. Now that you know a little bit about each of these people you know that they came from completely different time periods. With that said you know that John Dalton had much more technology to experiment with and technology to check and see if he was right. Unlike Democritus who didn’t have anything to check and see if he was right most of what he found out was just based on a hypothesis. Now you know how these two people used the scientific method differently.
